Schubert: Piano Quintet in A major “Trout-Quintet”, D667
Leading Irish chamber ensemble Musici Ireland join forces with Irish Songmakers for this concert, which features Schubert’s famous “Trout-Quintet”, based partly on his song “The Trout”. In addition to this chamber music masterpiece, Irish mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty and pianist Niall Kinsella perform a selection of Schubert songs on the theme of “Rivers, Lakes & Seas”, including “Die Forelle” (The Trout), “Erlafsee” and “Fischerweise”.

Welsh pianist Rebecca Cohen, finalist in the Das Lied International Song Competition, joins Niall Kinsella and four of Ireland’s finest emerging singers to perform Brahms’ Liebeslieder-Waltzer (Love-Song Waltzes) and Schumann’s Spanische Liebeslieder (Spanish Love Songs), plus delightful piano duets by Schubert.

The great bard William Shakespeare’s impact on language, literature and song cannot be underestimated. This concert features settings of his texts by Franz Schubert, Roger Quilter and British female composer Madeleine Dring. Distinguished English baritone Andrew Ashwin joins Irish Songmakers to perform this beautiful music, and Ingrid Craigie, one of Ireland’s favourite actors, reads a selection of Shakespeare’s most beloved sonnets.
